Fourth Vienna Seminar of Nobel Laureates

The Fourth Vienna Seminar of Nobel Laureates took place on 8 and 9 October 2009 in cooperation with the University of Vienna, the University of Technology, the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences and the City of Vienna / Wiener Vorlesungen. This two-day event, which included five Nobel Laureates and other renowned experts, focused on the realm of Chemistry.

The seminar opened with a ceremony at the Vienna City Hall on 8 October 2009, accompanied by chamber music and a composition from Bernhard Gander. The lectures (in English with simultaneous translation into German) were open to the general public and were also suitable for an educated audience. The evening came to a close with a podium discussion with the Nobel Laureates and other experts. Herbert Pietschmann moderated the event.

On 9 October 2009, the Nobel Laureates and other experts gave lectures at the University of Vienna, the University of Technology and the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences. Furthermore, the Laureates participated in Faculty Meetings on current research topics.

The Fourth Vienna Seminar of Nobel Laureates finished with the so-called “Chemistry and Technology Talks” in the Sky Lounge of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
